Roles and Responsibilities

• To provide quality catering and food services for a diverse multicultural staff/ to provide 24-hour food catering on board the vessel in safe, friendly and efficient manner
• To ensure that high hygiene standards are always maintained for all food handling and preparation
• To assist in ordering of provisions with sufficient notice to allow for continuous replenishment of catering and accommodation supplies
• To ensure that a good standard of housekeeping in kept within the galley to provide a safe living environment
• To provide training to other galley personnel in food preparation with underline of safety and hygienic industrial practice
• To report to Chief Steward of any malfunctioning, defect or broken equipment as soon as known
• At least 1 year of sea service and working as cook for at least 3 years, preferably trained as professional cook

Role:

This is a voyage contract of 3 months.  A competitive salary is also offered.

Experience Required:

You must have at least 6 months at sea as a Hotel Engineer or 2nd Engineer on a large cruise ship.

Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

• Responsible for all systems within the accommodation and hospital areas

• Maintain required log books and keep proper records of maintenance carried out

• Ensure an adequate supply of refrigerant gases and refrigerant lubricating oil is carried onboard

• Manage the certification and recharging of all gas cylinders

• Manage inventory for Hospital, Hotel, and HVACR equipment onboard

• Manage the “Maintenance Request” system onboard

• Stand watch in the machinery spaces if required, according to STCW Certificate of Competency

Essential Certification:

• Certificate of Competency in accordance with STCW A-III/1 is preferred but not essential

• Has successfully completed Basic Safety Training in accordance with STCW A-VI/1-1 to 1-4

• Has successfully completed Crowd Management Training in accordance with STCW A-V/2-1

• Appropriate training and experience in refrigeration and air conditioning systems is required

• Appropriate education, training, and experience in mechanical engineering would be considered

• Any other background with training and experience in maintenance of Hotels, Hospitals, Office/Apartment blocks, and Factories would be considered

• Ability to communicate proficiently in English in both written and verbal forms

The successful candidate must also be compliant with the vessel's mandatory vaccination requirements prior to joining.
