Northern Marine Manning Services Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Chief Purser on behalf of their client Hebridean Island Cruises. Please note due to the itinerary of the vessel, applicants must have the right to work in the UK. This is a permanent position, joining around Mid-November. Rotation 3 weeks on 3 weeks off. Salary Negotiable depending on experience.
The Role:
Working as a Chief Purser on board The Hebridean Princess, the successful candidate will be in charge of the Hotel Department and directly manage the four departments and 22 crew on board at any one time. This is a very hands-on role, running a unique and bespoke five star luxury cruise ship and the successful candidate must ensure the highest standards are maintained across the Hotel Department at all times and guest expectations are consistently delivered and exceeded. Due to the diverse nature of the role, it does also encompass an element of a traditional Cruise Director with speeches, briefings, entertainment and announcements.
The main purpose of the role is to maximise the enjoyment of each and every guest taking a Hebridean Princess cruise.
- The day to day management of the on board hotel department ensuring the highest standards are maintained throughout the vessel.
- Monitoring all on board hotel purchasing and keeping this in line with the budgets set by the company. This includes a small on board boutique.
- Management of the guest experience from their initial transportation to the vessel to their safe return home maximizing guest satisfaction across every area of the product.
- Determining and monitoring the enjoyment experienced by guests during their shore excursions and evaluating ways by which such visits, or alternative visits, could be enhanced.
- To continually monitor standards in areas which have an impact upon guests and report both formally and informally on the positive and negative aspects.
- "Mine Host" functions - Keeping a watchful eye that guests' service needs are being effectively handled.
- Quality control of all transport aspects from a guest perspective - coaches, trains, aircraft, timetables, meals/service, including dealing with the providers, either directly or through the office.
Certification Requirements:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience as a Chief Purser at sea, or experience similar to a Cruise Director and/or Hotel Manager.
